With its headquarters in Basel, Lonza is the world’s largest contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. True to its corporate slogan, “Technologies to enable a healthier world”, the company develops and manufactures technologies to support the manufacture of medical treatments and therapies.

Lonza was already impressed by the efficient management of its meeting room occupancy with ROOMZ displays. In response to the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the internal COVID-19 task force implemented its complex health and safety concept at work by integrating all workstations in the myROOMZ software.

«Space is precious. Particularly our students do not have enough space for learning and working. This resulted in the idea to place our 600 meeting rooms, lecture halls and seminar rooms at their disposal for studying when they are not in use.

This required electronic door signs that show the reservation status of the rooms at a glance. Customary displays were either dependent on a radio infrastructure or cabling, did not meet the aesthetic requirement or were not scalable..

Conversely, ROOMZ, the battery-operated room reservation display on an e-paper basis, meets all of ETH’s requirements –in terms of easy operation, scalability and design. The ROOMZ server connects with over 10 different reservation tools used at ETH, which proves its high level of flexibility and openness. The displays connect with the WiFinetwork, fit within ETH’s standard door sign frames and can also be attached to the glass.

The result: the rooms are better utilized, students are satisfied, and room planning has become far more efficient. Our goal is to equip all available rooms at the ETH with a dynamic door sign. That makes 600 rooms that we can use better and more efficiently with ROOMZ.»

The new Sunderland City Council headquarters, designed with the new working methods in mind, opened on 17 March 2022. This meant that the organization had to move away from the traditional model in which everyone had their own office. ROOMZ was there to help the organization through these changes and with the implementation of different types of offices: allocated, bookable and hot desks.

Founded in 1993, CBS International Business School is a highly renowned business school in Germany that focuses in management-related fields. For its site located in the heart of Cologne, CBS was looking for a dynamic display solution to manage class schedules and building information, as the current process was outdated.

Up until now, every day and sometimes several times a day, staff members had to print and replace paper schedules. This time-consuming task not only used up valuable resources but also led to confusion among students. It was not uncommon for students to get lost in the hallways, desperately searching for their classroom after a last-minute change.

To modernize its display system and guarantee that information was shared is always up-to-date, CBS looked into several solutions on the market before ultimately choosing ROOMZ.

What made the difference?

The ease of installation and connection of the screens, as testified by Sebastian Trott, Head of IT Infrastructure and Apprenticeship, who was in charge of the project: “We looked at several solutions in this area, and ROOMZ was the best fit for us. The quick installation of the screens, easy connection to the network and Cloud environment convinced us definitively. The fact that we could connect our own systems, such as our course management system and our Microsoft 365 environment, was also a crucial factor.”

Another fundamental aspect in the selection process was the sustainability of the ROOMZ solution, and in particular the extended lifespan of the displays. “As an institution of higher education with a strong commitment to the environment, sustainability also played a decisive role in our decision.”

During his testimony, Sebastian Trott also emphasized the importance of the quality of communication with customer service. “In addition to providing quick and accurate responses, friendliness was always present.”

The school is now equipped with over 100 ROOMZ displays for managing its classrooms, and the solution has been fully adopted by both teaching staff and students. “Our expectations for the solution have been entirely met. The time saved by eliminating paper solutions can now be used for more meaningful activities. Our students and teachers are also very satisfied. The search for the right room, which was sometimes very difficult, has finally come to an end thanks to ROOMZ.”

«There is a growing need for retreat options for spontaneous meetings or to make phone calls. We were looking for a room planning tool that is suited to a modern workspace concept.

Existing solutions were too expensive, too comprehensive or entailed high installation costs. The concept from ROOMZ, on the other hand, convinced us. We agreed to work with them during the development and decided to try ROOMZ out for ourselves right away.

Bellevue Group is an independent Swiss financial specialist company, focused on international asset management business. Their IT Infrastructure is operated centrally at the headquarters in Küsnacht.

Until 2017, Bellevue Group managed their meeting rooms entirely manually. Daily printouts were made from Exchange calendars and taped to the meeting room door. «While this was no longer contemporary, meeting culture also suffered as a result.» explained Holger Schultes who at the time was COO/CIO at Bellevue Group.

To counter this drawback and to better manage meeting rooms, he sought an automated solution, finding what he was looking for with ROOMZ displays, these were immediately appreciated by all the teams.

In 2022, Bellevue Group made another major change: the migration of their ROOMZ system from On Premise to Cloud. Philipp Huber, System Engineer at Bellevue Asset Management (a Bellevue Group subsidiary) was in charge of the project, which progressed smoothly.

A French industrial start-up, Néolithe is an innovative company committed to a new generation of waste recycling. A trendsetter, the company has developed a unique process for transforming non-recyclable waste into Anthropocite, a new material comprised of mineral aggregates that can be used in the construction industry.

Following years of rapid growth, it became essential for the company to install a modern workspace management solution that met the needs of its employees.

«In the past, we managed our meeting rooms exclusively within the Outlook resources calendar. There was no information visible on the doors. Meetings with external partners were posted on the doors with a sheet of A4 paper. Then we discovered ROOMZ at another company. From that point, things moved at lightning speed to deployment within approximately two to three weeks.

Implementation with the ROOMZ cloud server and our on-premise exchange server were well documented, and our exchange specialists were able to carry it out on their own.
