«Space is precious. Particularly our students do not have enough space for learning and working. This resulted in the idea to place our 600 meeting rooms, lecture halls and seminar rooms at their disposal for studying when they are not in use.
This required electronic door signs that show the reservation status of the rooms at a glance. Customary displays were either dependent on a radio infrastructure or cabling, did not meet the aesthetic requirement or were not scalable..
Conversely, ROOMZ, the battery-operated room reservation display on an e-paper basis, meets all of ETH’s requirements –in terms of easy operation, scalability and design. The ROOMZ server connects with over 10 different reservation tools used at ETH, which proves its high level of flexibility and openness. The displays connect with the WiFinetwork, fit within ETH’s standard door sign frames and can also be attached to the glass.
The result: the rooms are better utilized, students are satisfied, and room planning has become far more efficient. Our goal is to equip all available rooms at the ETH with a dynamic door sign. «There is a growing need for retreat options for spontaneous meetings or to make phone calls. We were looking for a room planning tool that is suited to a modern workspace concept.
Existing solutions were too expensive, too comprehensive or entailed high installation costs. The concept from ROOMZ, on the other hand, convinced us. We agreed to work with them during the development and decided to try ROOMZ out for ourselves right away.
Our employees were enthusiastic about the simplicity from the start. That is why we chose an incremental rollout for all 40 rooms in our Schlierenand Bern locations. Once the basic installation is in place, it is very easy to expand: You order a new display, which is preconfigured and knows the WLAN password. Simply attach it to the wall or glass door and it is ready to go. You do not even need electricity. The rooms can be used with greater versatility with ROOMZ.

Bank am Bellevue AG and Bellevue Asset Management AG are part of the Bellevue financial services group, with different locations around the world. COO/CIO Holger Schultes undertook to professionalize their meeting room management in 2017.
Up until that time, Bank am Bellevue managed their meeting rooms entirely manually. Daily printouts were made from Exchange calendars and taped to the meeting room door. «While this was no longer contemporary, meeting culture also suffered as a result,» explained Holger Schultes. To counter this drawback and to better manage meeting rooms, he sought an automated solution and found what he was looking for with ROOMZ displays.

«We reserved meeting rooms exclusively with Microsoft Outlook in the past. That was complicated and inefficient, so we tried different solutions. What set ROOMZ apart from all the other suppliers: the displays do not require a cable, which meant that we did not have to install electricity or network cables in every single meeting room. The long battery life reduces maintenance work. Moreover, we are able to easily remove the displays and place them in another location if needed.

«We moved to our new, modern offices in PostParcBern in mid-July. We sought a display for room reservations that meets our technical and aesthetic requirements for a smart work environment. In this context, we came across ROOMZ, a tech startup from Switzerland, which has launched a sensational product. The solution convinced us in terms of quality, user experience, as well as price. Employees experience it as a special added value to be able to spontaneously book rooms and need no longer inconveniently take care of this on the computer.
We like the design –reduced to the minimum, the display does exactly what it should. It is clearly laid out and easy to operate. Even the setup with NFC was a highlight. «In the past, we managed our meeting rooms exclusively within the Outlook resources calendar. There was no information visible on the doors. Meetings with external partners were posted on the doors with a sheet of A4 paper. Then we discovered ROOMZ at another company. From that point, things moved at lightning speed to deployment within approximately two to three weeks.
Implementation with the ROOMZ cloud server and our on-premise exchange server were well documented, and our exchange specialists were able to carry it out on their own. To date, the system runs extremely reliably and incurs no maintenance costs for us. And best of all: ZERO cables; just unpack –configure –adhere –done! That’s how to make technology fun!
Our employees also very much appreciate the system. There are no longer any battles for space: meetings are continually displayed in our meeting rooms in Bern and Wabern. The person who reserved the room is shown on the display.
